1.做介詞,表示“到,向,往”,如go to,fly to,后面跟名詞作定語,構(gòu)成介賓結(jié)構(gòu)。
2.動(dòng)詞不定式的標(biāo)志,很常見的,如:want to do,be happy to do。

a number of 是數(shù)個(gè),并沒有具體的數(shù)目也沒有比例比較
a pool of 是一群,同樣沒有具體的數(shù)目也沒有比例比較;a pool of 和a number of 相比 a pool of 的數(shù)量要多
a number of…
a number of…
a number of…
注意和the number of的區(qū)別。the number of…

the majority of后可用單數(shù)名詞,也可用復(fù)數(shù)名詞,謂語動(dòng)詞的數(shù)與of后面的名詞相一致。
6. majority

(On the surface), the principles of majority rule and the protection of individual and minority rights would seem contradictory
the majority of+復(fù)數(shù)名詞用作主語時(shí),謂動(dòng)用復(fù)數(shù);the majority of+不可數(shù)名詞用作主語時(shí),謂動(dòng)用單數(shù)。
一、the majority of釋義大多數(shù)。
二、the majority of讀音英 [e? m??d??r?ti ?v],美 [e? m??d???r?ti ?v]。
三、the majority of示例:The majority of foreign nationals working here have work permits.
The majority has [have] seen the film.
But the majority were [was] on Ben’s side.
The majority are young people.
2. “the majority of+復(fù)數(shù)名詞”用作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞通常用復(fù)數(shù),偶爾也可以用單數(shù)。如:
The majority of them are professional drivers.
The majority of criminals are non-violent.
The majority of students were [was] indifferent to the political meeting.
The vast majority of the population lives [live] in utter misery.
4. “the majority of+不可數(shù)名詞”用作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞總是用單數(shù)。如:
The majority of the work has been finished.
The majority of the damage is easy to repair.
5. “a majority of+復(fù)數(shù)名詞”用作主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞通常用復(fù)數(shù)。如:
A majority of visitors have arrived.
A clear majority of voters were in favour of the motion.
10. majority
①當(dāng)主語后面接由as well as、as such as、accompanied by、including、in addition to、more than、no less than、rather than、with、together with等構(gòu)成的詞組時(shí),其謂語動(dòng)詞的形式要依主語的單復(fù)數(shù)而定。
這類集體名詞常見的有army、audience、cattle、class、club、committee、crowd、family、government、group、majority、minority、party、people、police、public、staff、team等,其中cattle、people、police一般看成復(fù)數(shù)形式。
常出現(xiàn)在這類句子中的標(biāo)志詞有or、either...or...、neither...nor...、not only...but also...、not...but...等。
